Bought by Big Pharma: How Drug Money Shapes Congress
Summary of Campaign
Washington politicians collect millions from Big Pharma every year – Campaign Cash in exchange for access, influence, and protection on Capitol Hill. To expose this system and inform voters, we deployed targeted advertising directly into the congressional districts and states represented by the most heavily funded lawmakers, connecting the dots between pharmaceutical money and political power.

Big Pharma Spends Billions on Ads—Not on Lower Drug Prices
Summary of Campaign
As the U.S. Senate Finance Committee hosted a hearing on “lowering prescription drug prices,” we launched a targeted advertising campaign across Washington, D.C. aimed at Senators, their staff, and the public. The campaign highlighted the billions Big Pharma spends annually on direct-to-consumer advertising, and made the case that those dollars would be far better spent on research, cures, and patients, not television ads.

No More Silence: Challenging Big Pharma’s Influence in Public View
Summary of Campaign
While pharmaceutical executives convened for one of the industry’s largest annual conferences in Philadelphia, we took our message directly to the sky. Throughout the week, aerial banner ads circled the city and convention center with messages such as “Pharma Owns the News,” “Pharma Bribes Doctors,” and “Pharma Buys Electeds.” Each banner pushed a message and promoted our website, where they were prompted to take action by signing a public petition demanding that Congress ban Big Pharma TV ads.

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
MOST ANNOYING TV AD
Awards Show
Big Pharma wins again! This time, taking home the award for the Most Annoying TV Ads.
With the pharmaceutical industry dumping $7+ billion into relentless TV ads packed with dangerous side effects, there wasn’t much competition. In their acceptance speech, Big Pharma thanked the politicians who enabled it, the tax code that rewards it, and the American people who bankroll the ads by paying 4x more than other countries for the exact same drugs.
